Ok I am just going to start by saying I was really hoping for the first half of the previous comic to continue in this book.
Unfortunately it doesn’t. Womp Womp.
Now that I have gotten that off my chest let’s get into this book! I'm sure since I am coming in to this comic season 3 I have missed quite a bit of backstory but I think I can get the gist of things. So the first half we have Jughead and Betty (um what happened to Betty being in love with Archie and Archie being a two timing man whore?!), chatting about Betty’s sister and the fact that apparently she’s in some cult and has cute little redhead twins (Sorry. Not sorry. Babies get me every time. Even cartoon ones). Anyway Jughead wants to find out more about these “pod people” as Betty calls them and all I can think is “this seems like a bit much for a teen to deal with”. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised about these big issues teens are dealing with in a comic. I watched One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl. Drama keeps the audience intrigued and here I am waiting for more.
The second half was so so. It might be because I have never had any interaction with these characters. Whereas I read the normal Archie comics as a kid so those characters resonate better. I honestly could have skipped these characters and just had more of the original four (Archie, Veronica, Betty, and Jughead). Although I did like that they went to In N Out (not really because branding and all that but basically). The two girls, Choni and Antoinette, do some not so good things for what they call a good cause. I honestly think if I knew more about these characters it would have been just as fun to read as the first half so I won’t mark the comic down for that.
I did however enjoy the art for both halves. I like the update from the original Archie comics and gives a more realistic feel. You already know I am waiting for more so I am going to give this comic a Let’s Go!.
Oh also this comic makes me want to watch the show. Who doesn’t need another show to binge?
RATING: LET’S GO!
