FROM THE PUBLISHER: The comic based on the hit CW series is back! These two stories set between episodes of season 3 of Riverdale are filled with thrills! First, Betty is caught up in a dangerous pact with someone way too close to home, then #Veggie stave off terror on the high seas when an overnight on Ronnie’s boat goes all kinds of wrong.
EDITORS NOTE: SPOILERS AHEAD! PLEASE READ THIS SERIES AND CATCH UP ON THE RIVERDALE SHOW BEFORE READING AHEAD!
I finally finished all the current Riverdale episodes! Which means I am no longer completely lost about who people are and what's going on. So winning! Also so many thoughts about the show. Alas this is about the comic so let’s get to that.
Part one starts with my favorite couple, Bughead (Jughead and Betty if you're not hip to the lingo). I have to say I do not know why I have become so obsessed with them. Like I admit it has gotten to a semi creepy level. A thirty something year old woman should not be so interested in a highschool relationship but here I am. I blame the show and the fact that the actors who play the characters actually date IRL. I just find that so adorable. I digress. We are introduced to Jughead’s mom in part one as well. She is shady AF. If you have watched Season 3 of the show you know why. If you haven't, I don't want to spoil anything. Anyway Gladys Jones is an interesting character. She has a way of manipulating people and twisting words and in this case it was Betty’s words that were twisted.
Part two we have Veggie or Veronica and Reggie stealing her dad’s yacht. Not my favorite couple by the way. I am all about Archie and Veronica. They are end game (more hip lingo from the show, my walker has tennis balls by the way). So back to Veggie, by steal I mean just hanging out on it while it is docked. Somebad stuff goes down and the cute dog that happens to be with them saves the day. Veronica and Reggie do some stuff to help themselves but I attribute most of the saving to the dog.
Overall I enjoy these books. We all know my qualms about them not continuing so that doesn't need to be said again. I have to say they are much more enjoyable after you have watched the show and make a ton more sense. If I decide to read the next season I will try my best to stay on top of the show so that i can be as informed as possible for my reviews. The art is great and pretty true to the actors that play the characters which makes it fun.
RATING: LET’S GO!
